The knowledge for change media contest

At Champions of Change, we want to support young women and their advocacy for gender equality. We are going to award 2 lucky winners with a monetary scholarship from the funds collected by necklace sales, which happened during 2021

submission categories

Submissions can be essays or short films focused on anything to do with women, gender equality, and female empowerment.

how long can my submission be?

Essays can be up to 1,500 words in length and videos can be up to 5 minutes in length. 

who determines the winner?

Your submissions will be judged by a panel of judges, ranging from university women's studies professors to local activists and high school English and media studies teachers.

you are eligible if you are;

  • Going into any field career-wise

  • Going into post-secondary education and are in grades 11-12, or are currently enrolled in post secondary education and plan to continue

  • Female or gender-diverse

Anyone in Champions of Change HQ Board Of Directors, Chapter Core Teams (London, Toronto, Hamilton), and any chapter executives are NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE

Members from HQ or chapters ARE allowed, just not executives, directors, executive directors, vice presidents, or presidents

Topic ideas (you are not limited to these):

  • The Women's Suffrage Movement

  • The Importance of Intersectional Feminism

  • Gender Stereotypes

  • Reproductive Rights

  • Period Poverty or Taxes

  • The Wage Gap

  • Gender Representation in Politics or Media

  • Any other ideas related to women, gender equality, and female empowerment!
